We spent the last weekend of September visiting family and friends in good ol' Detroit. Each time we go, we fall in love with it even more. It's great to see all of the changes happening, bringing in fine dining and shopping into a city that was left a skeleton for decades - but a beautiful skeleton with great Art Deco buildings and a work hard/play hard spirit that never appeared to have left. Detroit Public Library View from The Park Shelton towards the Detroit Institute of Arts and far beyond you see the RenCen. We celebrated a few things in Detroit including my sister's birthday, a friend's birthday, and the Walk for the Michigan Humane Society, where my mom and Nikki raised over $1000 to help the shelters. Places to visit in the city include MidTown, the Riverwalk, Kengisington Park (Metro Detroit), Detroit Institue of Arts (enjoy it's lovely park space too!) and the new Little Caesar's Arena. One more piece of good news and happiness was brought to Michigan this trip.
More on that to come in the next post!
