Today we celebrate our first adopt-aversary with Jolene Bean! We couldn't be happier to share with you our loving journey as pup parents to her. There's been a learning curve on both sides of the table - and that's just how it goes! We wouldn't trade her for the world. She's definitely our child and has some characteristic similarities to both Pete and myself. She likes being around friends and family but large crowds give her a little anxiety like her mom. She's one of the fastest runners S Street dog park (a natural athlete like her dad) but doesn't do well in the summer's high temps - heat and humidity are not Halbrook favorite. And lastly, like her parents, she's very routine with her ways - meals, outtings, bedtime, etc. Since having her, it's been a treat to come home and always see a happy and excited face. She also gets us out more which is good for our over all health. We do weekly "family walks" and Sunday is usually "adventure day" in which we pick a place to go and explore for a longer period of time than a typical block walk. She's as a sweet mix of American Staffordshire Terrier, Boxer, Rottweiler, German Sheppard, and a few other breeds according to her DNA test. Her best friends include a Chihuahua named Robin, a Pit-mix named Levi, a Golden named Imogen, and a Husky named Iris! She plays well with puppies and older dogs too. Her favorite snacks include peanut butter, watermelon, and cheerios but for the most part sticks to her own food and doggy snacks, including chicken chips and Greenies - for good dental health! She never gives us trouble with her monthly medications, vitamins, nor visits to the vet where she's gotten some shots and blood work done; she actually looks forward to seeing Dr. Recinos at Dupont Veterinary Clinic. On top of it all, she always gets an excellent report card when she goes to the groomers! Let's just say she's set the bar high for her forthcoming human sibling! All of this would not have been possible without the wonderful organization that is the Humane Rescue Alliance. They do their best and a very good job indeed at matching dogs, cats, birds, etc. with the right human companion! They offer training classes, vet assistance, do follow up calls a few months into the adoption to make sure all is well and good. To honor this momentous day, we made a certificate of adoption that states that by officially bringing Jolene into our home, she made us a little family a year ago today. Thank you little girl for exponentially making our lives happier! Caught her looking at our certificate and these two snuggling

Our pets have always brought us overwhelming happiness. Clearly Jolene (one of the great dogs of the world) has done the same for you two. We look forward to having her here for Christmas
